SCO Concerned About Pakistan Nukes

Russia and other member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have serious worries that terrorists will get access to nuclear weapons in Pakistan, the Interfax news agency reported on Wednesday quoting deputy head of the Russian Security Committee Vladimir Nazarov.

"The situation in Pakistan becomes more and more dangerous. The area that is under the authorities' control is shrinking and the country possesses nuclear weapons. We all, and first of all the SCO have justified concern that those weapon can fall into the terrorists' hands," Nazarov said.

Russia-India Talks Successful

Russia is going to strengthen strategic partnership with India, President Dmitry Medvedev said at a press conference in the Kremlin on Monday after the end of the talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "We intend to strengthen our strategic partnership in every way," he stressed. According to President Medvedev, the talks were held in an atmosphere of mutual trust and friendship, which is traditional for the relations between the two countries.

India refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the nation's Minister of State for External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor said. The statement followed the UN Security Council's approval of the resolution urging all countries to sign the treaty and refuse from their nuclear arms. The NPT signed in 1970 restricted the number of nuclear superpowers to five countries only - the USA, the USSR, Great Britain, France and China. These were the countries that already had the nuclear weapons at the time when the document was signed.

Asia's nuclear powers - India and Pakistan - do not intend to follow the example of the two superpowers. The ongoing standoff in South Asia may lead to catastrophic consequences for the whole world.

The conflict between India and Pakistan lasts for over 60 years already. Their confrontation became especially dangerous after 1998, when both India and Pakistan conducted a series of nuclear tests and showed the world their ability to build nuclear weapons.

Based on the Linux operating system, the prototype includes an Internet browser, a PDF reader, touch screen, videoconference capacity and the design permits the user to add new functions.
